This is a 72 year old who came to me after doing keto for about two years. He had a 99-100% occlusion of the LEFT internal carotid artery (ICA) that I have been watching for the last 7 years. Plaque doesn't just form in one artery, however, keto had essentially cleaned out all the other arteries and he was left with an inoperable complete blockage of the LEFT ICA.
Over the last 10 years I have seen a 2-10% regression in carotid plaque with strict ketogenic dietary compliance each year.
We switched him to carnivore about a year ago and to my shock, his LEFT ICA is now only 37% occluded with flow in the vessel where NONE was present before.
Astounding. I was told this would never occur in medical school, just like I was told that diabetes is not reversible. Well, just proved that theory wrong.
